Although I'm trying to remain chill and open minded without expectations for tonight. It's fairly difficult to contain my excitement right now!
Mom & I have reservations to go out to dinner before the show. Maybe a cocktail or two will help calm my nerves. I'm bringing a mini recorder just in case we do get read. I know I'll go into brain lock and make like Rainman if I'm put on the spot.
I wonder how many people that have been on the show have those "Duh!" "Forehead slap" moments when it's all over.
Son doesn't know I will not be home tonight, yet. Gives him less time to plan getting into trouble or, God forbid, a party at my house.
The best thing so far about tonight? The impending snowstorm will not move in until after midnight. KFarmer is planting spring crops....we're still shoveling white shit!
I hope to blog all about the show tomorrow - have a good weekend!

eyeye
Left work early yesterday cause I had sumptin' in my eye for a few hours that was hurting and irritating. Whatever it was dislodged itself on the way to the Dr's.
4 hours, a PCP & ophthalmologist visit later...I scratched my eyeball. I have to put that ooey gooey ointment in my eye 4 times a day. B-E-A-U-tiful!
Doctor also mentioned that I have the beginnings of a cataract in my right eye. Wha? I'm 43 for cryin' out loud!?! He said it can be caused by smoking.......
It's time to start listening to the universe for she is just about beating me over the head telling me to quit.
So much for wearing my contacts to the show Friday.

2 Days
Till John Edward! Can you believe it?
I went to an actual Spa/Salon for a haircut yesterday. On the off chance that our show will be taped for TV, I do not want to be the one with the auburn football head, mustache and bushy eyebrows.
So I treated myself. I haven't had a haircut since last spring and though it had grown to shoulder length I couldn't really style it. I have a LOT of hair on my head. Now it's lighter, layered, updated fun, funky and EASY! I'm so beyond spending an hour on my hair in the mornings. I was getting aggravated having to spend more than 10 minutes on it. Occasionally it was fun to use the straightening iron - but on a daily basis? I'd rather pull out nose hairs. Since I deserve it - I went for an eyebrow & lip wax too.
I decided to try someplace a bit more upscale than my usual place. It's cheap and family run, but it's also kinda grungy and the longtime employees aren't familiar with new techniques and what's hip. No matter what I said I wanted when I walked in the door I ended up with the old lady short cut just this side of a mens regular cut.
It must have been fate/karma/the universe at work again when I ended up with A as my stylist. Not only was she intuitive about the style I wanted, she is also very talented and paid great attention to detail. We connected on another level though. Her Dad died of cancer 5 years ago and she just got his ashes and personal belongings this past weekend. It was a long story but we related on our after death experiences and she damn near fell on the floor when I told her that I was seeing John Edward Friday.
I told her that there were still tickets available for tonight and tomorrow nights added shows. Who knows - she might end up seeing him before me.
Although I've felt very much alone, and small and lost over the last 10 months. Meeting A gives me faith that we are all connected somehow and people are brought into our lives for a reason.
I just hope A was right when she said "I have a feeling you and your Mom will get read and my intuition is never wrong"

What a looong week
Turns out I was borderline walking pneumonia. Went to the Doctors Monday. The nice Doctor had me breath deep several times which sent me into a 10 minute couching jag in which I actually peed my pants a little. He gave me some uber antibiotics and extra strong cough medicine. I'm feeling better but, here's a tip:
Do turn on the light when taking cough medicine at 3:00 AM. Do measure each dosage and follow the directions. I do not recommend taking several swigs off the bottle in a half sleep state. You run the risk of overdosing and drinking half the bottle then have to drive to work stoned out of your mind in the morning, like I did Thursday.
Last night was the first night I slept straight through the night in a week.
Son worked his first week in co-op. Co-op is when the technical high school students actually work on the weeks they would have their shop. So far so good. He likes the job (it's a major construction company with over 140 pieces of equipment). He's making $10 an hour and will get a load of on-the-job training with the potential of going full-time when he graduates. If he can keep his mouth shut and attitude in check - he'll be fine.
In the spirit of 'A Christmas Story' I give you Charlie. Only, instead of 'You'll shoot your eye out kid', the catch phrase should be 'You'll lose a finger kid'.

Flu
I've got it.
Woke up 3AM last Thursday coughing with every bone in my body screaming in agony.
I was home from work Thursday & Friday. The fever finally broke sometime Friday morning. The aches in my joints finally went away but the cough has been brutal.
Got a Dr's appointment at 3:15 today, just to make sure it isn't bronchitis or pneumonia. It sucks cause I wake up coughing every couple hours. I need some cough medicine with a narcotic to knock me out.
To top off that - my PC at home won't boot up, I get nuthin. A command prompt that I cannot enter to.
I brought it in to work today for our IT guy to take a peek at. The warranty expired last week.....of course it did.
I'd just better not lose all my edited pictures on the hard drive. I bought an external hard drive for back up a couple weeks ago, I just hadn't backed anything up yet.
At least I don't have the pukey poo-poo bug my son had 2 weeks ago. That's me, looking on the bright side...I'm a glass half full kinda gal.
