Good News, Bad News

It has not spread beyond his lung and the lymph nodes in his chest.

That is music to my ears.

Having the lymph nodes affected is bad, but at least it hasn't gotten to his liver (typical with lung cancer).

Dad said they took pictures. One of his healthy lung and one of the affected lung and the tumor.

I asked "What's it look like, A big scary monster?"

He said "Yea".

"Well, let's kill the fucker".

"Yea".

That is actually very good news. It's a controlled situation, it can be treated and if required surgery can effectively handle the affected area. Obviously it's still a scary time but things are definitely looking up!

Hey gal, I'm just starting to get caught up on my blog reading. I've missed so much. I'm soooo glad to hear that there is some good news in the bad news.

Thank G-d. What's the prognosis?

Thank you people. If it weren't for you all, I'd be falling apart at the seams.

They have not "staged" the cancer. So there isn't a prognosis yet. I think a lot will depend on what type of cancer it is: small cell lung cancer or non small cell lung cancer. Small cell tends to metastasize (spread to other parts of the body) faster. I'm praying for the lesser of two evils.

The next step will be radiation (to shrink the tumor) and chemo (to try and kill it). My parents haven't mentioned anything about surgery to me. That doesn't mean it hasn't been discussed.
